Carls Jr Commercials
Okay so I know this image is a little too sexy, however, what caught my attention is the fact that these young ladies, with great well taken bodies are eating a Six Dollar Burger from Carls Jr. First of all these burgers look super good and build up a hunger and whim. Just by seeing these commercials I think of eating a Six Dollar Burger that is messy when you eat it, the meat is really big, and well the taste is extraordinary! However, when I see this commercial I begin to think why these sexy ladies all the time? Is it to appeal to men's eye? Is it to demonstrate that women also may eat these types of big burgers? Why is there so much provocations in their commercials? Although this commercial always makes me crave Carls Jr and their chili cheese fries when I go there I never end up getting this Six Dollar Burger because of the size of it and because of the great amount of calories, therefore it leads me to think that these models will never eat these Six Dollar burgers, if it is not part of their job.

I would like to think that burgers could be sold just because they taste good; however, I think that may be just wishful thinking. I assume that in order to remain competitive with larger chains like McDonald’s smaller hamburger chains have to do whatever it is necessary to stand out. By utilizing sexy advertisements Carl’s Jr. is definitely standing out as no other competitor uses this strategy. I have never seen Ronald McDonald feed burgers to sexy women, nor have I ever seen the Burger King pursue women in skimpy outfits. Lastly, Jack (from Jack in the Box) is married and his wife keeps him on a short leash. Yep, Carl has the sexiest commercials and best burgers too!
ReplyDeleteHahaha, your comment really made me laugh.! I really pictured your words haha, its just funny how they have to make these type of commercials to attract men first with the looks and then with the food. I just wonder if they had these types of ads back then.
DeleteI'm thinking that there might be another hint in this advertisement. First, of course we have these crazy hot women sitting there eating. I wouldn't have noticed the burgers unless you had pointed it out to me... Secondly, I agree with your analysis of the other food chains Paul, they don't go to the same extremes with their advertising. My input would be that the ads sends a double message to men; come and enjoy these burgers that are so good that even super models eat them, while you are enjoying this beautiful view. Haha, long story but I think there's some truth in it.
ReplyDeleteAlso, this ad is very patriotic since the females are dressed in cowboy boots, and american flag colored bikini tops. Hot ladies plus US flag = BIG SELLER with american men
ReplyDeleteYeah I understand what you are saying, its funny how you didn't notice the burger on your own I guess that is why they show just the burger at the end. Oh and their clothes is because this commercial was bein announced around 4th of july.
DeleteIf I would have just seen this picture you used, never seeing the commercial before, I would have no idea who it was for. Going off of what I have seen about the commercial, however, I agree with what you have commented about this six dollar burger. However, looking at this clip from the commercial, it seems like Carls Jr. is indirectly saying that in order to look like these attractive women, eating the burger would be the way. I completely agree with what you have concluded about these burgers being not really what one needs, unless, that is, if they need the calories or are starving.
ReplyDeleteExactly! It just makes no sense and well by some women this commercial may be inferred that this company only wants to attract men because we definetly know that were not going to get those bodies by eating those burgers
DeleteThese ads are very… different. There are hundreds of Carls Jr. commercials that use beautiful, scantily-clad women eating their products. Personally, it just doesn’t work. It’s too unrealistic. I agree with the comments that have been made. There are not many other fast-food chains that use this method of persuasion. I honestly don’t understand these advertising methods. I can see these methods being used for clothing, perfumes, and make-up; it simply doesn’t sell fast-food burgers to me.
ReplyDeleteThat's true. Maybe they are trying to sell us their unique way of catching our attention, may be the unrealistic part would match their fantasy of ever seeing this and the fantasy of eating one of their "great burgers"
DeleteI HATE this commercial!!!
ReplyDeleteAnyway, this is a perfect example of advertisers trying to be cheeky. We all know that it is rare to see stick thin women eating some nasty fast food like this. It's got to be some sort of fetish to think it is attractive to see anyone eat such a huge sandwich! The ladies are sweating over a huge BBQ wearing practically nothing. They are eating, nay, that are making love to eachother and these sandwiches in this ad! It's so silly.
So why make this a routine advertising schtick? Well, it's memorable, number 1. It's memorable partly because it is so ridiculous. Second, I think we are distracted by the accepted beauty standard. Both women are of the certain body type, wearing bikinis, acting suitably sexual, etc etc. When we're examining them (whether it's because we're a hetero dude or an impressionable chick or whatever) we're not thinking about the narrative- That eating this burger will make you look good? That model-type women eat this, so should you?
Whatever it is, it doesn't really matter. In a way it's a bait and switch type of advertising! The ad grabs us, keeps us, we remember, and we KNOW (consciously or not) that it's useless to think to much about it- there's not a lot of substance there... Which makes me feel a little bit offended that "they" think I'm so dumb. Why not offer a more compelling reason to buy their s***!!!
That's true, it just seems kind of or completely ridiculous the way they are trying to sell their burgers. Like I mentioned to Nicole it's as if this company only would want men to eat their burgers since us women definetly know that were not going to achieve a body like that by eating these burgers. Another example that they are only targetting men is the fact that they never have commercials about kids meals or kids food or anything rather than an appealing image to men, sexist? Probably depending on which way one looks at it.
DeleteYou are right, this is memorable, however I don't think men go into the restaurants hoping to see these ladies sitting at one of their tables eating this type of burger, and yes we are defienetly distracted by the accepted beauty standard! We all have a standard that we should meet and we are all judged by this standard that media and society have placed.
Nice ending haha loved it!
This commercial is a fine example of subliminal advertising in a sexual manner. The funny thing it’s a commercial about food. Everyone knows the food is not healthy. I’m sure the creators of the add were not only completely aware of it, but fashioned the advertisement in a sexual manner because of it. Hey, if it’s bad for you, how else are you going to remember except for the pretty women? It is simply another way of emblazoning a product into the mind of its observer. Obviously aimed towards the male half of the population, it is tremendously humorous what lengths a company to will go to advertise a bad product.
