Over the past two
weeks that we have been looking at the subject popular culture I realized that
this subject can be more complicated and very detailed than what we simply
named or described our first day of school. I have noticed and learned about a
lot of different factors that contribute to our popular today that I would have
never imagined before. Although I do find some subjects a little hard and
confusing to understand I am very intrigued to continue looking into the
various aspects that make popular culture and how it has changed over years. In
reference to the article I was very surprised when I read that “women had
helped to construct a culture and that they ironically did the dirty work of their
society”. Not only the fact that ironically did the dirty work but also the
fact that it is mentioned that women helped construct a culture. Honestly I
thought that back then women weren’t recognized at all especially in the
construction of something big for the society. Also another thing that caught
my attention the most from the article was the example of Mickey Mouse being
important to understand the Great Depression as well as Franklin Roosevelt. I
have to admit that many ideas seem complicated to understand but I am learning
a little more as I go along.
